Starting To Figure It Out

Here are some truths I have learned over the last 31 years. Have any of your own? Feel free to share.

  • Breakfast tastes better before bed.
  • “Everything happens for a reason” is a stupid saying. Of course everything happens for a reason.
  • Take advantage of every first chance – don’t wait for the next song.
  • Live without expectations, or you may never experience anything worthwhile.
  • Don’t bite your tongue when it comes to saying what you feel – honesty is a stronger character trait than conformity.
  • Being liked by everyone means nothing if you’re not happy with yourself.
  • Children ask why, adults suppress their curiosity. Don’t do that.
  • Treat others how you want to be treated, but don’t put up with bullshit.
  • Light, cheap beer doesn’t taste any better now than it did ten years ago. Drink better beer and make more meaningful toasts.

I love a good quote. Yours are wonderful. Here are some of my favorites:

Count your age by your friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears. John Lennon
Harboring resentment is like swallowing poison yourself and then expecting the other person to die.
    Everybody dies; not everybody lives.
He who has a why to life can bear almost any how.
Procrastination is the thief of time.
A day wasted on others is not wasted on one’s self.
Poetry makes life what lights and music do the stage.
There is no sin but stupidity.
To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.
Be still and the world is bound to turn herself inside out to entertain you. Everywhere you look joyful noise is clanging to drown out quiet desperation.
The greatness of a nation and their moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
Think no ill, do not harm, spread love and happiness.
Fine Peace in where and what you are.
